I was walking home last night as usual. On Wednesday nights during the summer they play music in this park in Hoboken. I heard them singing "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson. Usually, I just walk by but this rendition pulled me in. They were pretty good - They even broke it down and the singer did the moonwalk! I don't think I've ever been that happy before. The thing I love the most about that story is they had to have a band meeting about their set. "OK, it's 2001 and we're playing in a park --- I don't know, maybe hit them with a little Billie Jean?" -- If I could only be a fly on the wall! Then they went into a song by Marc Anthony and I took off. I finally got to watch all of Harry and Tonto last night. That's one film that is always on and one that I always catch in the middle. Anyway, I'm watching it and towards the end of the film the cat, Tonto, dies. That really made me sad. Did they really have to write that in? I'm really looking forward to the show tonight. Iggy Pop is on. I'm a big fan.
What else is going on? I'm looking forward to checking out that film Ghost World. I'm hearing good buzz. "Good buzz," all of the sudden, I'm Bobby Hollywood! I'm hoping, hoping that a charity can take my old car away today. I can't even give it away! Why I bought a new '89 Skylark, I'll never know? I can separate the different stages of my life by the cars I've driven:
1977 Buick LeSabre - The High School years. Cruising the mean streets of Steubenville, Ohio in the only LeSabre in town with lettered tires and chrome rims! I was years ahead of my time.
1989 Buick Skylark - The Technical school and college years. This car was bought brand new. All kidding aside, it has been a great car. I didn't have the grades to get into a real college. So, when my friends went away, I stayed in town to study Business Management. What did I learn from that experience? The customer is always right. From there the Skylark took me to Kent State University and thank heavens I found out that they offered classes about TV! The car took me here, six years ago. Six years! And now, I'm fresh into the Nissan years. Lord only knows where I'm going to go in that car. OK, I've been meaning to say this all week but wasn't sure how.
This is the last diary until August 20th. I'm taking the time off to reflect and learn. OK, that's not true, we're on vacation. Please feel free to check out the BobBorden.com Archives. If you get bored with that, check out Mike McIntee's Wahoo Gazette. He's good people and no one gives you the behind the scenes dope like Mike. I'm going to write something everyday I'm away. So when I come back on the 20th, bring your reading glasses because it's going to be a long one!
Time for Bob's Thursday Cliffhangers:
Will Bob meet the girl of his dreams?
Will Bob leave his apartment?
Why did Tonto have to die?
Did you know that the Swahili word for purple is zambarau?
Why is my car so hard to get rid of?
Blah, Blah, Blah - That's it. Have a good one - Tell your friends about BobBorden.com.

I almost forgot -- In lieu of a gift or money, I wanted to say thanks to our interns this semester. Thanks for everything, Craig and Sarah!!!! Good luck!
