A few weeks ago Cara and I were watching "Too Close for Comfort."  It was the pilot episode.  In the episode the downstairs tenant died and the Rush family discovered their tenant was a transvestite.  Watch:

I LOVE Ted Knight's delivery, as always, but I don't get the joke.  What do transvestites have to do with Nubian slaves?  Cara and I have been making each other laugh by imitating Ted's line.  But now we want an answer.  I looked into who wrote the episode and may get in touch.
