What a week! Monday I spent my morning with the cesspool guy. Tuesday, the chimney sweep guy. Wednesday, the plumber and the furnace guy.

I'm happy to report all of my "problems" were solved by the skilled craftsmen. While I can't pick my favorite guy, I will say the cesspool guy had the best jokes, go figure.

This is our second winter in this house. We haven't lit a fire yet because we never had our chimney cleaned. We were so excited to light our first fire! I even bought some firewood.


I started our first fire with a small Duraflame log and some real logs. It was the saddest fire I've ever seen. Turns out, to make a great fire, you need kindling and newspaper. Who knew? Our second fire was much better. However, I don't think I found the perfect formula. Such is life.

I wonder if I can smoke some ribs on the fireplace. That'd be so sweet!
