I woke up Wednesday morning to the sound ofpouring rain. It's a peaceful, calming sound. Then the thought of my only umbrella, hanging in my office at work, soured me pretty quick. But I'm a survivor, should I just suck it up and wear a garbage bag?The answer came back 'no' pretty quick, ha ha. I found a hooded jacket and went with that. I walked outside and it was still coming down but it wasn't that bad - the jacket really helped me too.

I walked a block up and it started pouring -
Oh, and did I mention the intersection was completely flooded? I ducked into a doorway and took this photo:
What the
hell?

I've seen the sewers backed up before but never like this. I couldn't walk to the next block without getting my shoes soaked. The rain stopped, I decided to walk another block up and try to keep as far away from the water as I could. That's when I took this photo:
Holy crap!

How am I going to get around this?! I was on the edge of the water with another guy. He turned around,
I rolled up my long pants and started walking. I couldn't see the curb, I could only feel for it. My poor New Balance shoes.
Bob's shoes are
still wet

Traffic was pretty bad, I knew that taking the bus to work was out of the question, so I started walking towards the Path train. The sweater I was wearing turned out to be a bad choice because now I'm sweating like crazy.
If you're keeping score: My shirt's soaked from sweat, my pants are soaked up to the knee and my shoes may never dry out.
This car flooded out in the
middle of an intersection

In my nine years here,
I've seen a few blizzards, I've seen one hail storm but I've never seen anything like this - it was crazy. I talked to a neighbor and he said the flood gate wasn't open - or is it 'closed'? Whatever, someone may have screwed up. Here's my favorite photo from yesterday, it's just surreal:
Isn't this
spooky?

What a morning! I made it to the Path, made it into the city only to find that my subway wasn't working. I got on the first thing that was going uptown and made it to work. I was soaked but I made it. The good thing about where I work is they have a full wardrobe department. I got some socks, pants and was ready to go.

I missed breakfast and by lunch I was really hungry. I had a 'F#@K it' lunch -- meaning, '
F#@K it, I need this!' I called up Domino's, ordered 5 pizzas and shared them with any friend that looked hungry.
So good!

It was fresh from the oven and
OH so good! I felt so dirty all day, I was wearing strange pants, socks, I wore a new (Meaning never washed) Late Show t-shirt and my shoes were Chuck Taylor's that are very uncomfortable for me to wear. I got home last night and took a shower. I would have loved to soak in a tub but what can you do?

So, that's it for today.
The last thing I did before leaving work was grab my umbrella. Have a better day than I did!

Sincerely,

Bob
